So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us. – 1 Thessalonians 2:8
It was good to see so many of you on October 19 for evening worship and my installation as your senior pastor. I know some of you wanted to be there but couldn’t because of prior commitments. Your prayers were appreciated. With my first week behind me, I continue to be amazed and humbled at my privilege to serve the Lord by serving you. My ministry verse for CCAA (above) continues to deepen in my “DNA” as I think about and pray for you. With my first staff meetings, lunches, fellowship dinners, hymn sing, I am all the more eager to journey together with you as we serve the Lord. Elder Lopez said it well at the installation “there are no perfect pastors.” I’m the reason that statement came into being (I think). It’s hard to see this during our so-called “honeymoon” stage, but it won’t be long until you will see the “warts and flaws.” Thank you for your patience with me. In my beginning months I am working to develop a “flow for ministry” as I work with the Session on priorities and scheduling. Christ Church is quite the active congregation. I am prayerful that we will see God’s hand at work in amazing ways as we continue serving him at Christ Church.
