So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us. – 1 Thessalonians 2:8
By the time you read this, Angie and I will be living in our new home. I continue to be amazed at how God put all the pieces together in such a short time. In less than 2 months (from your vote on Aug. 10), we sold our house, bought our new one in Saline, packed up all our things and moved into the place we would call “home.” God’s hand was involved in very specific ways through answered prayer, some answers according to our needs and other answers beyond what we imagined or hoped. While we love our new “house” and look forward to having your presence and voice fill it, I’m reminded that even this home is only temporary. There is an eternal “home” awaiting us, being prepared as I type (John 14:2), “whose designer and builder is God” (Heb. 11:10). Until we “move” into our new, eternal home, let us mindfully live with one foot in our temporary home and one foot in our eternal home.
An update . . . I will be preaching Oct. 5 and 12. Angie and I will worship at University Reformed Church (East Lansing) for our last time on Oct. 19. And then at 5 pm on Oct. 19 at Christ Church AA, I will be installed by the Great Lakes Presbytery as your next senior pastor. At this service vows are exchanged between me and you. It will be a wonderful time of worship, celebration and praise.
